It’s almost spring. You know what that means? Spring Screenshot Contest!
For those of you who are new to the customization community, SSC is probably the definitive customization showcase. It started back on customize.org and through community turmoils, twists and turns, it’s persevered and brought out the best that the customization community has to offer.
Personally, this contest has a special place in my heart. SSC07 is one of the few reasons I got serious about customizing and for every year since, I’ve been blown away with how people can make something as boring and functional as a stock desktop and turn it into a work of art.
SSC is a time when all of the titan gods of customizing come out of hiding and present their masterpieces, and when newcomers show the oldies that there’s a new top dog in town. It’s a time when old trends are broken, new trends are set, and history is made.
So let’s kick it off. There’s a lot to do! We need to plan categories, work out a rating system, prizes, and publicity. Traditionally the contest has a deadline of late April/Early May, but we’re open to suggestions.
Let’s get to it folks. This year is going to be the best yet. I know it.

While I am not top dog or old elite for sure, I may join this year. Besides, its all about the enjoyment of customizing the default look and thats something I am deeply addicted to…

I definitely think a mobile category is necessary, but I’m not sure we’re going to have enough submissions to warrant splitting up desktop shots into various OSes. Maybe just desktop and mobile categories?

i’m all for the mobile category again. that was fun. plus the usual cats like best overall, best newcomer, etc.
and, also per usual, i’ll just donate prizes.
