I was thinking about this, and I think we should split it into two or three link buttons right next to eachother.
From a user experience perspective, making the user go into each download page is another obstacle increasing their chances of not converting to our action funnels and leaving the page altogether.
On the other hand, by giving a direct link to a file when the authors don’t have direct access to update those files puts a management responsibility to maintain this webpage with updated files on the ftp in the event of a patch update and whatnot.
This however also happens if a person resubmits something as a version 1.1 or 1.1 on the pixelfuckers site as a separate submission as well.
So… there is some potential for this needing to be updated once or twice over the next month, I’d wager.
Anyway, here are my thoughts:
Button Option 1:
Download Now goes to a direct download of the files in a .zip file.
Button Option 2:
Download Now goes to the PF submission page.
Pros: Authors can update it themselves.
Button Option 3:
I prefer this idea, but it puts a little more work for me making more icons.
We have three buttons, one button to the author’s PF profile or a link of their choice(portfolio link), a download now button giving a direct link to the file, and a third button that can either say Comment, Discuss, Submission Page, going to the PF profile submission, giving the user the choice of their options.
