Appows7

Artist Notes

Working from my previous setups and further exploring skinning the Windows 7 beast.
I’m hoping to polish these up for a proper release. Think of these as WIP screen preview teasers. If anyone’s interested in getting onboard for some app/wall skin collabs give me a shout. All I really have time for right now is to concentrate on the VS’s. There will be one more style with a light taskbar that I’ve yet to start on. Possibly a ‘Base2’ style suite. It’s actually an extension of previous style I did for xp NiteLiteXP which turned into Base for Vista. The similarities to pjdark’s Ribbon shot were not intentional but the subconscious is a funny thing, so credits to Patrick as well.

Looking good. Would probably like the taskbar fonts better without anti aliasing, if that’s even possible. Everything else is crisp and tastefully done.

not too hot on the font, but otherwise real nice. great work on the explorer window.

@jamie: yeah, the font doesn’t look bad by any means, it’s just not my personal favorite.

I’m impressed. The dark taskbar looks fantastic; I hope that color scheme is carried over to the windows, as well. I’d definitely love to give this a run, see if I can’t learn to love Windows 7 after all.

@fate0000 | thanks, in Win7 there’s not a lot of options when it comes to the taskbar text color. There isn’t a way of differentiating between the various states. (normal, hot, etc…). Therefore there is a slight glow around the text because I find the light color gets too washed out when the taskbar animations and such kick in.
@nitzua | thanks as well. I realize that is your tagline, but fonts are such a personal preference anyhow. Skinning for 7 is still rather early, and actually even more difficult than Vista. Just trying to display that it does have potential.
Cheers.
@ecoo | glad to see you getting back into it Pep.
@pjdark | Actually I hadn’t really thought of it either until dmone @ dA mentioned it and I went back and had a look at it and realized, especially with the caption buttons it was similar enough to warrant a mention.
@Narcot1c | it’s a combination of the VS and using shortcuts rather than recent items.

Thanks for the feature Josh also the the kind words guys.

I really like the titlebar, caption buttons and wallpaper. This is a very good ‘got to get myself into skinning Windows 7’ screenshot, which I will soon. 4imp is coming with new stuff in 2010 and it will be Windows 7 based =D

Great desk man. I would not have ever thought about my Ribbon desk from looking at this. I mean yeah, the caption buttons, and maybe the taskbar are kinda similar but this is all uniquely yours man. Wonderful stuff. :) The explorer window does look fantastic too!
