again i’ll say that you’re busy as fuck
First screenshot in ages (first ever here). I think the last one I uploaded was a bland Mac OS X screenshot. Now here I am running FreeBSD and XMonad and ZFS and all that neckbearded nerdy shit.
Looks a bit busy because otherwise half of this screenshot would just be blank white. I wanted to include some other windows to show off subtler things like the background color for X, which you can see between the terminal windows, the focused/unfocused window borders, irssi message notifier, the different states of the workspace indicators, etc. etc.
So yeah, the screenshot’s cluttered, but only to show all the interesting bits at once. Too bad I couldn’t get my launcher in here. ;)
left screen:
- top left: workspaces, indicating:
1. “music” is urgent
2. “web” is inactive and invisible
3. “chat” is active
4. “code” is inactive, but visible (i.e. on the other screen)
The workspaces can be swapped around on the screens independently, thanks to xmonad being so awesome.
- bottom: irssi, a script to show all my terminal color settings, htop, ncmpcpp (normally this is on the first workspace, fullscreen, but I needed another window)
right screen:
- top left: little irssi notifier for people mentioning me, shows up on hover of the top part.
- top right: network status, weather, time.
- bottom: gvim, and a couple terminals
The color scheme is based on the vim “summerfruity” theme by Armin Ronacher.

This is kind of awesome. I’m curious, why go from OSX to FreeBSD?

Yep, it’s Anonymous Pro. It’s free, you can get it here: http://www.ms-studio.com/FontSales/anonymouspro.html It’s a bloody fantastic font; every character is finely crafted with perfect proportions.
I’ll have everything updated at http://darcsden.com/alex/dotfiles soon enough. You can grab it all via darcs get
Thanks!
edit: Woops, guess I can’t do more than one review, and it ate the first one.

This is brilliant. Great to see another FreeBSD screen. Can i have access to your configs? xmonad.hs, zshrc, conkyrc and what not. And the font is brilliant. Is it anonymous pro as defined in your vimrc? Can you pass on the font to me as well?
Thanks in advance mate. It is 100 from me!
