this is pretty cool. the font is really hard to read, though, and i think you could’ve used a better wall. would have worked better with a single colored wallpaper, or some kind of pattern.
but the ls and tt i like. well done.

Risk taking is always a good exercise.

Perhaps though you could choose a pixel font with more kerning, and widen the vertical spacing of the popup fonts.

The image you have chose to display kind of annoys me too, but that’s just me :)

Other than that, a nice consistent setup.

The separated titlebar is a SWEET idea, I love it. My only criticism is the font choice: far too narrow and small. Otherwise, excellent desk.

i do admire how well-done this is, in terms of consistency. also, i kinda like the wallpaper, i think its minimal in sticking with the theme but different enough to add some depth, although maybe the main gray background area could be lighter or something. i do have to agree about the font though, especially at that resolution i think you could sacrifice some “smallness” to get more readability. i really like the shut buttons heh

I’m with audacious- very consistent, but I’m not a fan of the color choice or the font.

Big fan of the minimalistic interface. The titlebar and the close button are slick, and the colors too. The font could be less narrow, but that’s your preference. I suggest uniforming the launchy font though. You should post more of your DA stuff here too.

Yeah, that font is tiny. Aside from the usability challenges inflicted on those with normal vision, the screenshot is very nicely done. The colors match perfectly and the theme is tight across all components. An honorable entry into the contest for sure.

nice! the only things I’d criticize:

- whats up with that ugly spider, destroys the shot a bit
- not a big fan of that lonely text line centered in a big window
- not too keen on the two identical empty windows either
- the beige and blue of the wall could have been incorporated

Nice work Jeff. I have to agree with uac about the blank windows, and also the shade of green would drive me mad. but i like your original style with this and that you made it from scratch.:-D

i agree with fate, a very solid contest entry. nice, fairly thorough customizing here.

i feel like the shutdown dialog could have been developed a little more, along with the two blank windows on the right, but they don’t hurt this too much. also that spider picture in your browser leaves more than a little to be desired. otherwise, nice job and good luck.

Overall, this is very thorough and good customization, but out of most of the SSC shots I have seen so far, this is the only one where I have great difficulty seeing the text on the screen unless I lean forward, which incurs a heavy penalty on usability here; lots of points gone for that.

Everything else is quite nicely done, though I agree with nitzua that the blank windows ought to be developed more.

I don’t think I’d be able to work with that font but whatever floats your boat :p. this is very thorough and a lot of elements are skinned. I wonder why you’ve added those 2 blank windows on the right side of the screen though. quite unnecessary to do that imo. the only thing that bugs me about the TT-skin is that the shadows are a little too heavy for my taste.

I really like this. I’m going to echo AUAN’s comment about the font though – more kerning would do wonders here. I’m also going to agree with noka that a solid color wallpaper or a pattern would’ve worked better here. It’s really nice though.
