Artist Notes

I really wasn’t planning on submitting anything, but at the request of my peers, this is what I’ve been working with.

So here it is :\

Wallpaper: some tile I had laying around, if you recognize where it may be from, let me know.

3dcc: based on soir de fête by bernadinho, I just made the purple and gray style more flat.

FF: custom userscript, finding out how to remove scrollbar buttons was nice. (before you say the fonts don’t match, that’s my tumblr, I’m not about to use kroeger 06_55 in a website.)

Foo2k: A basic config I’ve been using for a while now.

Tclock: it is what it is.

Font: kroeger 06_55

Icons: tango – sled industrial

Miranda IM: not much going on here.

mIRC: again, not much going on here.

Explorer is composed of a two layer taskbar and a modded finderbar with a few other hacks, I wish I’d have also used this but I’m already subbing last minute as it is.

Thanks to fate0000, akka, nitz and sekigahara for the encouragement.

Thanks to noka and bernadinho for the inspiration from their classic and usable setups.

mad pretty. i love the striped backgrounds, and of course the 3dcc. not a fan of the actual scrollbar in ff, but it is very nice without the buttons, i gotta try that. this is some thorough, great, and usable junx, TIP OF THE HAT SIR

edit as a relatively new poster, all your stuff is ill and inspiring <3

other than the miranda icons, this is ace. i get a nice, comfy old school vibe for sure. it looks like it would work with almost any color caption bar.

the taskbar is absolutely nuts…a finder bar laid into it? you crazy mother fucker.

Very nice classic setup Kody! Only the pixelfont doesn’t look completely crisp to me, is your font smoothing still on?

@Kody, there was a shot of Thomas right next to this one, must have been mistaken ;)

The firefox looks great and also the pinstriped backgrounds look fantastic with your setup. I just don’t like the miranda icons. But still, slick setup Kody. :-D

@nuuvo: thanks pep!

@audacious: thanks man, it’s really nice to hear someone say a setup is inspiring

@nitz: that taskbar is super functional for explorer, not exactly hot but, it’s not easy to make winclassic taskbars hot, save using samurize (which i probably should have done :3)

@patrick: thanks man, yeah the miranda icons weren’t really planned, I should have gone with an 11×11px purple dot and gray dot, methinks.

@jeff.saint: thanks, yeah the colors were the main inspiration behind this, as strange as that may sound.

@akka: thanks I tried to pull off something original, thankfully it worked out how I’d hoped.

Great taskbar, one of the finer classic ones I’ve seen. + points for innovation. Also, props for all the systray icons modded.

Personally I’ve never been a fan of 3dcc/classic setups. But you’ve got some very solid elements and I do like the use of the sled industrial icons which ties it together nicely.

Everything matches and looks great. That Firefox is strong. I think the only things that are holding this back is the color scheme and lack of some classic pixel icons. If you had chosen a 3-4 color setup and recolored some classic pixel icons this would be a contender.

Mad respect for the windows hacks here (that taskbar is batshit crazy man! – in a good way :D).

I would normally puke at the lavender, but for whatever reason I like it here. Its not too loud so as to distract you, but still saturated enough to make it work.

My only reservations are the icons, which seem a little out of place given the lavender/black color scheme.
